The Best Cancer Fighting Foods


It has been estimated that as many as one third of deaths due to cancer may directly relate to the type of food you eat. Unfortunately, the typical American diet consisting of highly processed food and fatty cuts of meat are exactly the type of food which may cause cancer.


There are many foods and herbs available that contain an abundance of cancer fighting properties and should be included in as many meals as possible on a daily basis.

Cruciferous Vegetables: Such as broccoli, brussels sprouts, and cauliflower contain substances called sulforaphanes and indole-3-carbinols which help remove carcinogenic toxins from the body, thereby preventing cancerous cells from transforming into full blown tumors. When preparing these vegetables, either gently steam or stir-fry to avoid destroying their cancer fighting substances.

Garlic: Garlic contains a very high amount of sulfuric compounds, which encourage the death of many different types of cancerous cells. Use garlic in a variety of meals by chopping the garlic up finely and combining with small amounts of oil for the best level of absorption.

Turmeric: This rich and flavorful spice contains a remarkable amount of anti-inflammatory properties which slows down cancer growth and boosts chemotherapy effectiveness. Use as an addition to stir-frys or salad dressings for a punch of flavor with health benefits to boot.

Green Tea: Rich in polyphenols, green tea reduces the growth of blood vessels which aid in feeding a tumor. It also promotes cancer cell death while eliminating toxins from the body. Be sure to allow the tea to steep for about 10 minutes before drinking and aim for two or three cups per day for optimal health.

Pomegranates and its juice: Delicious pomegranate juice is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory that can help reduce cancer advancement. Drinking at least 8 oz. daily can help slow the multiplication of certain cancers such as prostate cancer.

Fish: Rich in omega 3 fatty acids, fish should be included in your cancer fighting meal plan at least twice per week. The fatty acids slow down cancer cell growth and have a high level of anti-inflammatory properties. Try to pick wild fish as they have lower levels of mercury.

Tomatoes: This delicious red fruit contains lycopene, a powerful antioxidant which is responsible for attacking free radicals, which are thought to cause certain cancers. Lycopene can reduce the risk of breast, prostate, pancreas, and colorectal cancers.
